A smorgasbord of stuff

  • Well, today is a FANTASTIC day! Tyler is all done with school! I seriously can't believe it! It's been a long five years, but it's totally worth it. He has a great job that he loves and we can now look for houses! I'm so proud of all that he's accomplished. He amazes me! Ada and I left donuts (Banbury Cross--the best!) and a note in his car this morning and stuck around to say hi after he finished his test. Too bad he had to go to work.
  • So after my last pregnancy post I've felt much better. I still have moments of discomfort, but it's not nearly as bad. I guess I just had to complain about it in order for it to go away! I've noticed that drinking soda makes me feel crappy. That's not a problem, though, because I rarely drink it. My appetite was struggling for a while there too, but it seems to be back in full force now.
  • Ada just cracks me up. She says the funniest things. Some of my favorites lately are: "How 'bout THIS one?", "Ada did it! Yay Ada!", and "I like (fill in the blank) too!" (the other day she said, "I like poops too!").
  • So the Jazz...I have mixed feelings. Let's start with the last game of the season against San Antonio. I wasn't sure if I wanted them to win or not. Had they won, home court advantage would have been theirs, but they would have had to play the Spurs, who own them (and apparently the Suns too). They got demolished, so they don't get home court in the first round. They don't seem to be struggling too much with Houston (although Boozer is making me mad), but as long as they don't do anything stupid, they'll have to play the Lakers in the next round. It's funny because after the Jazz won the first two games in Houston, the guys on TNT were giving them more praise than I've probably ever heard them get. Things like, "The Jazz and the Lakers are the best two teams in the league" and "The Jazz will have a clear advantage against the Lakers since they'll have so much rest before they have to play them". It turns out that the Lakers are the ones who swept and the Jazz still have to win one more game. We'll see what happens, but I'm very nervous.
  • Thursday night was a bad one. I had trouble sleeping anyway, and then around 2:00 a.m. this loud vibrating sound started. It would go for a minute, stop, and come back. I had no idea what it was and started getting sick of it, so I woke up Tyler. He went outside and talked to some cops out there that someone had called. They didn't know what it was, but half the building was up because it was so loud. Tyler finally got a hold of maintenance, but neither of us could sleep. He called up Jordan at around 3:15 and made me go over there to sleep on his couch (he said he couldn't sleep knowing that I would be awake). So I went over and finally slept. I heard someone leave in the morning, got a little more sleep, and went home. I later called Morgan to apologize for waking them up in the middle of the night, and she was in Park City for an overnight conference! So Morgan, I hope you don't mind that I slept over at your husband's while you were gone :).

My Triangle

I saw this on Sesame Street yesterday and thought it was hilarious. I love that show!

Oh, the joys

Well, I guess I'm officially in my third trimester! That's good news, except for the fact that the minute I hit 28 weeks I haven't felt well. Last night I pulled out 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' and looked at the list of symptoms people may experience in the seventh month. I swear, I have almost all of them! Achiness in the lower abdomen or along the sides? Check. Heartburn, indigestion, flatulence, bloating? Check. Occasional headaches, faintness, or dizziness? Check. Nasal congestion and occasional nosebleeds? Check. Pink toothbrush from bleeding gums? Check. Leg cramps? Check. Clumsiness? Check. Continued absentmindedness? Check. These are just a few, and I fear there are more to come, like swollen ankles! This is definitely the worst I've felt this whole pregnancy (and my last pregnancy). It's been going on for almost five days and doesn't seem to be letting up. I really hope that the next 12 or so weeks aren't like this. One of the worst feelings (which has been happening for a little while but has been worse lately) is this constricted feeling in my chest, like everything inside wants to move up my throat. It's very uncomfortable! And everything seems to get worse at night when I want to sleep. No fun. Okay, enough ranting. I shouldn't complain; I know some people have it much worse than I do! I'll have to post a new tummy picture soon.

A bit large

I purchased this hat and flower when I went on my big Chloe Reese shopping frenzy. I think I'm going to have to get a smaller flower, or wait for Ada's head to get bigger.

Days 3 and 4

Well, this long week is almost over. The last few days haven't been too bad. Thursday night I hung out with my friend Sabrina and yesterday I hung out with Kim. Ada and I hung out at my mom's and my parents took us to dinner at Rumbi. Last night I watched 'The Pursuit of Happyness' with Jordan and Morgan. It was very good! This morning I had a Primary training meeting, so they came back over to watch Ada. We played outside for a while. It's warm but very windy! Ada has had lots of bad tantrums lately, and she pooped in the tub this morning. Good times. Today I have to prepare a Sharing Time lesson and clean. At least the playoffs have started, so I'll have some good ball to keep me company.

The worst part about Tyler being gone this time is that I haven't been able to talk to him on the phone. There is no reception where he is. He has had limited access to a computer at the hotel, so I've heard from him a couple of times at least. Today they'll be back in Vegas, so we'll finally get to speak to each other. He gets home tomorrow morning. We can't wait. He owes us big-time!

Day Two

Today has been a much better day than yesterday. Yesterday we really just sat around all day, but today we actually got out. Ada has seemed pretty happy and hasn't had any more puking incidents, so we went shopping with Morgan. We went to Robert's and then to Ross (it's practically next door. How could we NOT go?). I ended up buying maternity shorts for $11 and capris for $8. Not too shabby! I also got some newborn pajamas for the baby and a huge stuffed Elmo for Ada. It was only $2.50 and she couldn't put it down! It was a bit dirty, so I threw it in the washer when we got home. We got Wendy's for lunch, put Ada down for a nap, and watched 'The Holiday'. It was pretty good. When I took the laundry out, I immediately noticed something was amiss with Elmo. He had burst open in two spots and there was batting everywhere! I guess he was too big to be able to move around much in there; plus, our washing machine is really old and crappy. We re-stuffed him and Morgan did a fine job of stitching him back up. It was pretty funny. Anyway, hopefully tomorrow will be good too. I'm going down to Murray to hang out with my friend Kim.

Day 1 as a single mom

Last night Ada and I dropped Tyler off at the airport. He's gone until Sunday morning. In a few weeks, we're all flying to Chicago, so we've been telling Ada that she gets to ride on an airplane. This time, though, we said that Daddy was going on an airplane, but I think she got confused and wanted to go on herself. I'm such a baby anyway, so I was sad when Tyler left, and then the whole way home Ada was crying and screaming "Ride on an airplane!" Poor thing. It was not a pleasant moment. But she went to bed fine and we both slept well (one nice thing is that I get the whole bed to myself), but this morning Ada threw up again! Just what I feared. But at least she wasn't in her bed, so I don't have more laundry to do. I was holding her and she threw up on the floor. Poor little Ada. She seems a little more lethargic today. I hope she's okay. We'll see how the rest of the week goes!

A Tale of Two Days

Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day. The temperature was in the 80s, so Ada and I wore our shorts and flip flops and played outside. We got a good walk in too. In the evening we ate a potluck dinner outside with some friends. It was lots of fun.

Today it is snowing. I should have known it wouldn't be a good day when Ada woke us up before 6:00 a.m. because she was throwing up. Again. This time, though, she seemed happy afterwards. It's hard to say if she's really sick or not. We've pretty much been sitting around all day. To make matters worse, Tyler will be leaving us tonight for about 4 1/2 days. He's going on a big hike with his parents and some of their friends. I hope Ada doesn't have any more incidents that I will have to take care of on my own. When Tyler left us last month, I spent almost $200 in Park City on myself, Ada, and the new baby. Tyler wasn't too pleased, so I told him it was my shopping therapy for this next trip too. Now I'm not so sure. Being alone for that long can be so depressing!

As requested

I'm still getting used to it. I think it looks better today after washing it and everything. I'm waiting for the layers in the front to grow out so it will all be the same length in the front. While I'm at it, here are preggo pictures of me at 27 weeks. Three months to go!

So...

-So the Jazz had a great win at New Orleans the other night, even though they tried to give the game away in the 4th quarter. They experienced a tough loss against Dallas last night, though. D. Will was ticked afterwards. All the calls at the end seemed to go Dallas's way. The thing that actually made me the most mad was a no-call: with under a minute to go, Dirk Nowitski's (hate him!) arm came down hard on Kyle Korver while they were both going for a rebound and the ball went out of bounds off Korver. No foul was called, so Dallas got the ball back. Dallas was up by 1 at this point. It was ridiculous.
-So Memphis did give the game away on Monday night against Kansas. It looked to be all but over, but turnovers and missed free throws allowed the Jayhawks to tie the game and then win in overtime. At least my brother-in-law is happy (he goes to med. school there).
-So yesterday Ada and I went on a little adventure with some friends in the ward. They wanted to go to the cafe at the med. school for lunch(their husbands are both in med. school and the food is from The Point), so we rode the shuttle up. We accidentally got on the wrong shuttle at the beginning, so it took quite a while to get there, but we ate yummy tomato soup that was cheap. Ada loved riding on the bus and was so good the whole time (even though it cut over an hour into her nap time).
-So I also got a new 'do yesterday. My friend Haylee came over and gave me a color and cut. She's great because she used to work at Trade Secret. Now that she quit, she charges everyone about half of what was charged there, so you're getting a quality job that's cheap! I decided to get bangs because my scar makes my hairline crazy and the hair in that area doesn't cooperate. The bangs were sticking out and I couldn't tame them, so last night I cut more. They're a lot heavier now, but they seem to stay in place better. When I woke up this morning and put on my glasses, I seriously looked like Garth from 'Wayne's World'! After fixing my hair, though, it looks a lot better. I just need Haylee to even out the bangs little bit.
-So today I needed to get out, so Ada and I went to the "scary Wal-mart" (the one downtown), as people around here like to call it. I'd never been there without Tyler. I needed at few things, and I saw some twin bedding online that was available at that store. I've really been itching to start buying stuff for our house (wherever it may be). This bedding was the best deal I could find, and one of the cutest too. It's pretty close to the colors I wanted for Ada's room also. I bought some new baby bedding online last week for the new child, so we're all set in that department. I can't wait to decorate their rooms! I get so excited thinking about moving into a house!

Chatterbox

Ada is talking like crazy lately. She repeats almost everything we say now. We have to be really careful, especially when watching sports! Last month at Stake Conference she yelled out, "Dang it!" really loudly a couple of times. She's so funny. A couple of funny things she's said lately:

-Last week I opened the fridge and she started playing in it. She kept trying to get into a pan of leftover enchiladas, so I told her that they were for dinner and we could eat them when Daddy got home. She held both of her hands out and said in an exasperated voice, "Happened to Daddy!?" It was hilarious.
-Today she was playing with her sand toys in the kitchen and I put a little bit of water in them just for added fun. She started drinking it out of a little watering can, and I told her it was yucky water. She kept drinking and exclaimed, "Delicious!"
-Every time she goes down the big slides outside she says, "Do it again!" It's funny because she really articulates each sound.
-Every fish she sees is Dorothy (except for Nemo). She loves Elmo's World!

She is a total crack-up. She still throws lots of fits every day (today she threw a really bad one because I took her pajamas off), but when she's not mad she's usually really happy. She's been so silly lately, making funny noises and laughing at herself. She likes to sing. Her favorite song is 'Happy Birthday'. She also loves 'Elmo's World', the ABC's, 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star', 'Popcorn Popping', and several others. We have to sing along with her, but she knows lots of the words. I can't believe that she's becoming a little girl!

Winner winner, chicken dinner

It looks like I've officially wrapped up the victory in the Squire Family bracket challenge. Even though the national championship game isn't until tomorrow, nobody has a chance of passing me. I needed lots of help from Memphis and Kansas, and they didn't disappoint (plus I wanted those two teams to win anyway). If either or both would have lost, several people could have tied or even passed me. Lucky me! Last year I did really poorly, but I believe I won it all the year before. Thanks in advance to Tyler's dad for ponying up a cash prize!

Pigs?

Do you know anyone else who would be chowing down malted milk balls in the car on the way to get ice cream?

Unfortunately for us, the ice cream shop was closed, so we settled for a Jamba Juice. But just before bed we did finish a box of Samoas.
